EXO’s Chanyeol in talks with Korean director for film debut

Chanyeol of K-pop megahit group EXO is in talks with a Korean film director about making a big-screen debut, local news outlets reported Friday.

According to film insiders, Chanyeol was offered a role in a film tentatively named “The Last First Love,” to be directed by Kang Je-kyu. An official from SM Entertainment, Chanyeol’s label, said that the idol is positively reviewing the suggestion to debut as an actor. 

Chanyeol would play an innocent high school student though the details are yet to be revealed. 

The film will follow the romance of an elderly couple and their love for their family, an unusual subject for Kang, who is known for Hollywood-style action films such as “Shiri” and “Taegukgi.” 

The shooting for the film will kick off in August.
