한국 프로야구를 대표하는 에이스 류현진(한화)에 약 280억원을 베팅한 팀은 LA다저스인 것으로 확인됐다.

메이저리그 공식 홈페이지(mlb.com)는 10일(현지시간) LA 다저스 구단이 류현진을 가장 높은 가격으로 입찰, 교섭권을 확보했다고 보도했다.

메이저리그 홈페이지는 류현진의 포스팅 관련 기사를 '다저스, 한국의 스타 류현진 입찰에서 승리(Dodgers win bid for Korean star Ryu)'라는 제목 아래  메인기 사 리스트 머리에 올려놓았다. 

이로써 류현진에게 2천573만7천737달러 33센트(약 280억원)를 베팅한 구단이 LA 다저스인 것으로 확인됐다.

mlb.com은 다저스가 류현진을 품음에 따라 클레이튼 커쇼, 채드 비링슬리, 조시 베켓, 애런 하랑, 크리스 카푸아노, 테드 릴리를 포함한 선발로테이션에 특급 투수 한 명을 더 추가할 수 있게 됐다고 밝혔다.

mlb.com은 류현진의 국내 성적과 입찰비용을 자세히 소개하며, 특히 2천573만 7 천737달러 33센트의 비딩비용이 일본의 다르빗슈 유(5천170만 달러), 마쓰자카 다이 스케(5천110만 달러)에 이어 아시아 선수로는 세번째로 높은 것이라고 평가했다.

mlb.com은 이어 다저스 구단이 10년 가까이 외국인 선수들을 중요시하지 않았으나, 올들어 쿠바 출신의 외야수 야셀 푸이그와 4천200만 달러에 계약하는 등 팀재건에 나서고 있다고 소개했다.

Dodgers bid $25.7 million for South Korean lefty

The Los Angeles Dodgers have bid nearly $26 million for a chance to sign South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin.

The Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization said on Saturday they accepted a posting fee of $25.7 million for the 25-year-old left-hander. Major League Baseball later announced that the team was the Dodgers.

``We are thrilled to have this exciting opportunity,'' Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said. ``We have watched Ryu pitch for a long time and he is another option to consider as we look to improve our team in 2013 and beyond.''

The Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers were also among the clubs thought to be interested in Ryu.

Los Angeles now has 30 days to negotiate a minor league or major league contract with Ryu, who was 98-52 with a 2.80 career ERA during seven seasons in South Korea. He pitched for his country on teams that won a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and reached the final of the 2009 World Baseball Classic.

The $25.7 million fee will be paid to the Eagles only if Ryu signs with the major league team.

The posting system brought Japanese stars Yu Darvish, Ichiro Suzuki and Daisuke Matsuzaka to MLB. Last winter, the Rangers gave Darvish a six-year contract guaranteeing him $56 million after submitting a record $51,703,411 posting bid to his former team, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters. (AP)
