We all share the childhood experience of dreaming about the future through drawing all sorts of imaginary things and watching science fiction movies. But when we think of it now, we are already experiencing most of these things that seemed so distant, so futuristic back then. Now we can enjoy vivid video calls through small mobile phones, and make purchases without having to carry wallets. We are now living in world of dreams, where our children can go to school and take lessons taught by robots.

What brought the “dream world” to reality is, I firmly insist, the power of technology. Technology makes dreams come true and potential thrive; technology must exist for the humanity ― that is the fundamental philosophy of SK Telecom and its signature campaign, “the Relay of Possibilities.” Last May we announced a new corporate vision for 2020, “partner for new possibilities,” in the same context. As your trusted company in every aspect of business operations, we, SK Telecom, are doing our best of best to make new possibilities burgeon and flourish within people’s lives.

In our advertisement campaign “the Relay of Possibilities” we tried to convey the idea that man-made technologies and their potential can be developed again by humans into larger, new possibilities. We also wanted to reflect how our daily lives can become happier and richer through this endless cycle of possibilities. The advancement of technology exists, after all, for the humanity. And we are trying to bring about the world where the mankind and technology co-exist in harmony.

The advertisement on vision 1 and 2 that earned us 2012 The Korea Herald Advertising Award fully reflects on our message, with a child dreaming of a new world. The phrase in the child’s head, “mankind dreams it, technology accomplishes it,” points to the definition of technology as a driving force to realize dreams and boost potential. In the second advertisement, we displayed a series of technologies that satisfies the child’s curiosity about the brave new world, as an example of the “dream technology.” Here we tried to depict a message of hope for the future enriched by technology.

In our current surroundings, mobile communication has transcended means of basic-level communication, and has become the center of our daily lives, with which we obtain information and entertainment. Hence, SK Telecom will steadfastly hold on to such responsibilities as the leading company of mobile communication on one hand, and accomplish the historical agenda of erecting “the humanism in technology” on the other.

And we promise to continue making endless efforts to bring about mutuality and co-prosperity to the community, so that more people can benefit from bigger possibilities.
