LG Electronics has unveiled the world’s largest ultra-high-definition television in the U.S., aiming to penetrate the global HD television market.
The Korean electronics giant held a launching ceremony for the 84-inch ultra HD television at electronics retailer Video & Audio Center in Los Angeles on Friday.
“We took into account that California is the hub of entertainment and innovation,” the company said.

LG’s new ultra HD product is equipped with a jumbo screen measuring 3.84 by 2.16 meters. The pixels are only about one-fourth the size of those in other HD displays, creating a more vivid display.
LG said that the new ultra HD television would smoothly translate regular HD motion pictures into ultra-HD, and comes with lighter glasses for 3-D movies.
The product is a commercialized version of LG Display’s ultra-HD technology, first introduced in the Consumer Electronics Association held in Las Vegas in January 2012, months ahead of its rival firms.
