Ruling party presidential candidate Park Geun-hye said Thursday she is open to meeting with her new rival, the computer software mogul-turned-presidential contender Ahn Cheol-soo.

"I am completely open to meeting (Ahn) if such an opportunity arises," Park told reporters after a meeting with outsourced drama producers on a set in Yongin, south of Seoul.

The 60-year-old candidate of the ruling Saenuri Party was responding to reporters' questions about Ahn's earlier proposal for a three-way meeting with the main opposition Democratic United Party's candidate, Moon Jae-in.

On Wednesday, Ahn announced his presidential bid in a nationally televised news conference and suggested the meeting as a step toward competing in good faith with policies.

"(A policy-focused campaign) is something that I've also stressed many times, and it's not something that can be done with words, but (since) everyone knows that's the correct way, it's an issue that needs to be put into action," Park said.

Ahn, the 50-year-old founder of South Korea's largest anti-virus software firm, Ahnlab, launched his official campaign Thursday by visiting the graves of past presidents at the National Cemetery in Seoul.

Park's father, late President Park Chung-hee, is among those buried there.

In what appeared to be comments aimed at the conservative ruling party and its candidate, Ahn criticized the legacy of President Park's authoritarian regime.

"A privatization of power that overrides the law and procedures cannot be justified for any reason," he wrote on his official Facebook page after his visit to the cemetery.

The late president ruled the country with an iron fist for 18 years, while clamping down on dissidents opposing his dictatorship.

The ruling party candidate has come under fire on numerous occasions for defending her father's rule.

"The Park Chung-hee era laid the foundation for our industrialization, but it required the sacrifices of too many people, including workers and farmers," Ahn wrote.

"We need to reflect on the past as we stand at the crossroads between moving forward into a new future by overcoming the dark legacies of the industrialization era and retreating backward." (Yonhap News)

새누리당 박근혜 대선후보는 20일 무소속 안철수 대선후보가 제안한 `박근혜-문재인-안철수 3자 회동'에 대해 `깨끗한 선거는 실천의 문제'라는 입장을 보이면서 "만나는 것이야 기회가 되면 얼마든지 만날 수 있는 것"이라고 말했다.

그는 이어 "이것은 뭐 어떤 선언으로 되는 일이 아니라, (그것이) 올바르다는 것은 다 알고 있고 실천을 열심히 해야 할 문제라고 생각한다"고 강조했다.

안 후보는 전날 대선출마 기자회견에서 "저급한 흑색선전과 이전투구 등 낡은 정치와 선거 과정을 개혁하지 않으면 국민 통합이 불가능하다"며 박 후보와 민주통합당 문재인 후보에게 정책경쟁을 선언하는 자리를 가질 것을 제안했다.

안 후보의 대선출마에 대해서 그는 "늦었지만 출마하기로 결정했기 때문에 어떤 정치적 소신이나, 어떤 정책을 펴나갈 것인가를 국민께 알리고 그것을 또 국민이 보 고 판단할 수 있도록 해주셔야 하지 않을까 생각한다"고 답했다.

같은 당 송영선 전 의원의 금품수수 의혹과 이재영 의원의 정치자금법 위반 혐의에 대해서는 "당에서 조치를 취했다. 그런 일들은 우리 정치에서 척결해야 할 문제들이고 버려야 할 문제들이기 때문에 앞으로 절대 그런 일이 있어서는 안 된다"고 강조했다.

쌍용차 해고 노동자들과 만날 계획이 있는지에 대해서는 "이렇게 많이 다니니까 제가 그럴 기회도 있을 수 있다"라면서 "그런 갈등과 분쟁이 일어나지 않도록 제도적으로 잘 만들 필요가 있지 않나 생각을 한다"고 덧붙였다.

박 후보는 또 이날 국내 양대 포털업체인 네이버와 다음을 방문, 인터넷이 정치ㆍ경제ㆍ사회ㆍ문화 등 모든 분야에 걸쳐서 중요한 환경이 된 점을 언급하면서 선진 인터넷 문화의 구축 필요성을 강조했다.
