Italian churches pray for rain

Churches in northern Italy said they are praying for rain to end the drought and ease the strain from recent record temperatures.

Multiple churches in the city of Padua said they are ending Masses with a special prayer asking for rain to end the recent drought, ANSA reported Tuesday.

Temperatures in much of Italy have been at record highs approaching 104 degrees. (UPI)

찜통더위 견디다 못해 무리지어 교회서...


북부 이탈리아에서 계속되는 폭염과 가뭄에 견디다 못한 교인들이 교회에서 단체로 기도를 하고 있다고 현지언론이 보도했다.

이탈리아의 ANSA 통신은 7일 (현지시간) 파두아 시의 여러 교회들이 ‘가뭄을 끝내기 위한 비를 내려달라’는 주제의 특별 미사를 마쳤다고 보도했다.

최근 이탈리아에서는 섭씨 40도에 달하는 폭염과 적은 강수량으로 인해 주요산물인 와인을 생산하기 위한 포도 생산량이 크게 감소하는 등 극심한 피해에 시달리고 있다.
