A documentary program by KBS TV has been selected as one of this year’s World TV Awards winners by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development, according to KBS and the AIBD website on Friday.

“Dharma ― Where Does Happiness Lie?,” directed by Yun Chan-gyu and Choi Geun-young, won the Category Humanity for the Best TV Documentary “promoting religious understanding and tolerance.”

Dharma is Sanskrit for truth.

Yun will attend the awards ceremony to be held in Bangkok on Tuesday to receive the award and a prize of $5,000. “Ozone ― The Human Factor,” directed by Rehan Ahmed and broadcast by HUM TV in Pakistan, won the Category Science/Environment for the Best TV Program “preserving the ozone layer and protecting the earth.”

The World TV Awards were established in 2004 to recognize the media’s role in increasing awareness about major issues, including cultural diversity and religious understanding. Originally highlighting the themes of “religious understanding” and “conflict resolution,” the awards added a second prize last year focusing on science and the environment.
