A travel booklet illustrating Korean culture won a design award in the United States earlier this month.

The Korea Tourism Organization’s booklet featuring photos introducing the charms of Korea received a gold medal in the travel brochure category of the ASTRID Design Excellence Awards, the tourism organization said on Monday.

The annual awards, founded in 1987, recognize companies and government agencies that have achieved higher standards of quality in design and communication in fields ranging from annual reports to advertisements and brochures.

The 20-page illustrated booklet titled “Korea,” which was published late last year, was nominated as the sole candidate in the travel category, beating other foreign state travel agencies, KTO said.

The booklet contains photos representing the three different charms of Korea illustrated as energy, excitement and joy and warmth with brief descriptions.

Available in 11 languages including Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, German and French, the booklets have been distributed at major international travel conventions.

The award-winning booklet can be viewed at www.visitkorea.or.kr.
