The non-profit foundation to be established by Ahn Cheol-soo, the former chief executive of a leading South Korean anti-virus software firm, will be called after him, sources said Wednesday.

“Ahn Cheol-soo Foundation” was chosen from the three shortlisted names out of 4,045 online submissions by the general public, the source involved in setting up the foundation said.

He added that the name best reflected the purpose upon which the foundation is established and its future course of action.

Ahn, who is the founder of AhnLab Inc., recently sold off 860,000 shares, or a 9.07 percent stake in the company, to be used to set up the non-profit institute.
The move comes as Ahn has been mentioned in South Korean politics as a possible presidential candidate. He has been gaining solid support among younger voters, mainly because of his clean and fresh image.

The former businessman has, in addition, attacked large businesses for taking away benefits that should be shared with small and medium enterprises, and has been very vocal in his criticism of established party politics.
