LG Electronics said Wednesday it signed an agreement with Walt Disney Co. on Wednesday to use the firm’s 3-D content for TV viewers in Seoul.

The local electronics company said the 3-D version of “The Lion King,” expected to be released here on Thursday, will also be featured for LG’s 3-D Smart TV simultaneously. Other Disney animated films like “Toy Story,” “Toy Story 2,” “Bolt” and “The Nightmare before Christmas” will also be shown as 3-D content for the company’s smart TV. They will be available as applications in the 3-D World category, according to LG officials.

“Cooperating with the world’s biggest media and entertainment company enables LG Electronics to secure the most recent and high-quality 3-D content,” said Cho Taeg-il, vice president of TV product planning group at LG Electronics. “We intend to become the top name in the 3-D entertainment industry by offering differentiated content on a continuous basis.”

On a related front, an executive at Walt Disney Korea said it will keep up the effort to provide Disney content, which not only include animations from Disney and Pixar but also ABC’s dramas, on a variety of platforms for easier access.
