About 8,000 Chinese workers at LG Display’s Nanjing plant are staging a strike, calling for “fair treatment” from management, according to China’s largest portal site on Tuesday.

Sina.com said the strikers took to streets on Monday and now are in talks with management to settle the labor dispute. LG Display, the world’s leading LCD maker, has three module manufacturing plants in China with the other two located in Guangzhou and Yantai.

The strike started after the Chinese workers claimed that they had not received yearend incentives from the company. They also contended that they are not being treated fairly in terms of yearly incomes compared to Koreans working in the Chinese plant. 

A video released on JasminePlaces, a blog site in China, shows that the employees of LG Display’s Nanjing factory gathered in front of the firm, knocking down the company’s Christmas tree with some workers filming the scene.

LG Display officials in Seoul declined to elaborate, saying they are seeking more information about the situation.
