An international film tour is to be held in Seoul on Saturday to raise funds to protect Korean mountains.

The event to raise cash for Korea on the Rocks Initiatives is being organized with the Reel Rock Film Tour and adidas to raise cash to refurbish climbing gear on Korea’s mountains and clean up the environment.

The event at the SETEC International Auditorium will be the only South Korean screening for the international tour featuring six adventure films including the premier of adidas’ film “Antarctica.” All films are in English with Korean subtitles at the entirely bilingual event expected to draw up to 500 of the country’s outdoor and climbing enthusiasts.

All proceeds raised from the 15,000 won at-the-door entry fee as well as auctions and raffles will go toward climbing sustainability projects around Korea.

The event is partnered by adidas and sponsored by Evolv, Arc’teryx, Sanirang.net, Tasty Chalk, Beastmaker, Coca-cola, Kolon Sport, Mad Rock and Didimdol.

“KOTRi initiates fundraisers of this nature to ensure the ongoing support for the development, maintenance and improvement of Korea’s spectacular climbing environment,” KOTRi founder Bryan Hylenski said, urging those who could not attend to get involved in the new “Replace a Route” program.

The program allows individuals or groups of climbers to select a specific route and donate towards its refurbishment, with 100 percent of all donations going to replacing climbing hardware on the selected route.
