Two local electronics giants said Tuesday they are taking part in the four-day trade show in Iraq until Thursday to display their cutting-edge technologies in the Middle East.

Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics said they have set up booths at the Erbil International Fair, which is the largest trade show in Iraq, participated by about 850 global firms. Their lineup of smartphones, 3D televisions and home appliances will be displayed throughout the show, according to companies’ officials.

With the visitors estimated to be numbered at 75,000, Samsung has featured its flagship smartphones Galaxy S and Galaxy S2, as well as its Galaxy Note in the company’s Galaxy line-up, at its 400 square-meter booth, its officials said.

LG Electronics, which is the only Korean firm that is taking part in the show for the fourth consecutive year, will also showcase its 3D smart TV and 3D monitors, as well as its full 3D total solution, at the firm’s 288-square-meter booth.

The company has also packed the trade show with its new home appliances, such as smart refrigerators and smart washing machines, which have been launched in Korea, but new to consumers in the Middle East.

The two companies said they plan to expand their presence in the fast-growing market in Iraq and the Middle East, along with Africa and Latin America, and offer consumers in those countries the gadgets and home appliances which could make their lives “smarter.”
