Clinging on for dear life to the side of a vertical cliff, the tiny lion cub cries out pitifully for help. His mother arrives at the edge of the precipice with three other lionesses and a male. The females start to clamber down together but turn back daunted by the sheer drop. Eventually one single factor determines which of them will risk her life to save the youngster – motherly love, Daily Mail reported.

절벽에 떨어진 새끼를 구하는 암사자의 모정



야생 사진작가 Jean-Francois Largot가 최근 케냐 마사이마라에서 절벽 아래로 떨어진 새끼를 구해 올라오는 암사자의 모습을 카메라에 포착했다.

새끼 사자는 절벽 아래에서 애타게 도움을 요청하고 있었고 이 소리를 들은 엄마와 다른 4마리의 사자가 절벽 위에 나타났다. 암사자들이 내려가려 했지만 경사가 너무 심해 실패했다. 용기를 낸 엄마 사자가 목숨을 걸고 내려갔고, 새끼를 입에 물고 조심스럽게 올라왔다. 잔뜩 놀란 새끼를 핥아주며 안심시키는 모습에서 깊은 모정이 느껴진다. (데일리메일 보도)
