Six multicultural couples with financial difficulties were married in a joint ceremony sponsored by the steelmaker and Gangnam-gu office on Thursday.

The couples were selected from the 1,010 multicultural families living in Gangnam-gu who are married but have not been able to hold a wedding ceremony due to financial difficulties, the company said.

The steelmaker and Gangnam-gu began sponsoring the event, know as “Seven Color Romance,” last year as part of its programs to support multicultural families in Korea.

The company also invited the parents of the brides from their home countries to attend the ceremony and accompany the couple on the three-day honeymoon to Gyeongju. Two of the brides are from Cambodia and the others are from China, Mongolia, Philippines and Vietnam.

In addition to the ceremony and the trip, POSCO also provided the couples with coupons that can be used at traditional markets across the country.
