S.M. Entertainment said Sooyoung, a member of the girl group Girls’ Generation, was injured in a car accident on Sunday morning and will not be able to participate in the upcoming SM Town Live Concerst in Tokyo.
The singer was heading to Cheonan for a volunteer work for the visually impared when the car she was in was hit by a car coming in the opposite direction.
Sooyoung suffered a sacral fracture and will not be able to join the girl group’s activities until she is fully recovered, the agency said.
The SM Town Live Concerts at the Tokyo Dome start on Sept. 2.

소녀시대 수영, 교통사고로 천추골 골절
소녀시대의 수영이 28일 교통사고로 천추골(엉 치뼈의 일부분)이 골절됐다.
소속사인 SM엔터테인먼트는 29일 "수영이 28일 오전 9시께 경부고속도로 하행선 죽전 휴게소 인근에서 시각장애우를 위한 봉사 활동을 하기 위해 천안으로 이동하던 중 상대차가 차선을 침범해 수영이 탄 차량과 충돌했다"고 설명했다.
이어 소속사는 "병원에서 천추골 골절 진단을 받았다"며 "수영은 다음달 2-4일 일본 도쿄에서 열릴 SM타운 공연과 다음달 10-11일 열릴 소녀시대의 대만 콘서트 등 의 스케줄에 불참하고 치료에 전념한다"고 덧붙였다. (연합뉴스)
