Teenager jailed for rape blackmail

A teenager who had been charged of extorting money from victims deceived by his rape swindle was sentenced up to 15 months, Suwon District Court announced.

The 18-year-old convict, identified as Jung, had allegedly used online chatting to lure teenaged boys into having a physical relationship with his girlfriend, and later threatened them by saying that he would report the case to the police as sexual assault.

Last February, Jung had threatened a 15-year-old student to pay him $1,000 as the settlement money for him to not call the police. He received a total of about $5,000 using these methods.

“The nature of his crime is extremely serious, as he lured young victims into a sexual relationship, and later used violence to extort money and valuables,” the court sentencing read.

“He will be imprisoned taking into account that he also had a criminal record and that the amount of money he extorted in this case is not small.”

정군은 지난 2월5일 저녁 여자친구와 인터넷 채팅을 통해 만나 술을 마시고 성관계를 맺은 김모(15)군에게 “강간범으로 경찰에 신고하겠다”고 협박, 합의금 명목으로 100만원을 받는 등 모두 3차례에 걸쳐 500여만원을 갈취한 혐의로 기소됐다.
