TVXQ tops Japan’s Oricon chart

TVXQ (aka Dongbangsingi or Tohoshinki), a two-member Korean boy band popular across Asia, topped Japan’s Oricon Daily chart on Thursday with its new single “Super Star.”

More than 75,000 copies of the new album were sold on the first day it hit the shelves in Japan on Wednesday and nearly 50,000 copies were sold the next day, putting the South Korean boyband on the top of Japan’s most influential music chart.

The Oricon Charts are based solely on the number of albums sold during the week and is dubbed the Japanese Billboard chart.

TVXQ is expected to perform on TV music programs in Japan this weekend.

The dancing-duo will appear on Asai TV’s “Music Station” and “Happy Music” produced and broadcast by Nippon Television.

The band will also perform at NHK’s “Music Japan” and introduce their new songs.

The two continue to meet their fans in Japan by performing at “a-nation,” a summer music festival, for the first time in two years.

인기그룹 동방신기의 새 싱글 '슈퍼스타(Supe r Star)'가 오리콘 일간차트 1위에 올랐다.

20일 출시된 '슈퍼스타'는 발매 첫날 7만5천687장이 팔려 오리콘 일간차트 2위 에 랭크된 데 이어 이튿날인 21일 4만8천952장의 판매고를 기록하며 일간차트 1위를 차지했다.

발매 이틀만에 12만 장 이상이 팔린 이번 싱글에는 타이틀곡 '슈퍼스타' 외에도 일본 최대 유통그룹 '세븐&아이홀딩스' 계열사인 소고세이부 카드 CF 배경음악으로 쓰인 '아이 돈 노우(I Don't Know)' 등이 수록돼 있다.

한편, 동방신기는 22일 아사히 TV의 '뮤직스테이션'과 같은 날 니혼테레비의 '

해피 뮤직', 그리고 24일 NHK의 '뮤직재팬' 등 인기 음악 프로그램에 잇따라 출연해 신곡을 선보인다.

이어 7월 30일부터 8월 28일까지 열리는 야외 여름음악 페스티벌 '에이네이션(a -nation)'에도 2년 만에 참가, 공연한다. (연합뉴스)
