K-pop idols Gu Ha-ra of the girl group KARA and Yong Joon-hyung of the boy band BEAST revealed their romantic relationship Tuesday.
Yong’s agency announced Tuesday that the two stars have been dating for a month.
Cube Entertainment agency added that when Gu, 20, was having hard time going through the contract dispute with her agency, Yong, 22, had been a great comfort for her. However, with the tight schedule of the two stars, they have only been able to meet three times so far.
Gu’s agency also confirmed that they have good feelings for each other. The DSP media also asked their fans to give them support.
Gu has been a member of the girl group KARA, since its debut in 2007. KARA has also gained great popularity in Japan, topping the Oricon music chart several times.
Yong performs vocals and rap for the boy group BEAST, which debuted in 2009.
Gu is staying in Japan to promote KARA’s new album and Yong is soon expected to travel to Malaysia and Singapore for the Southeast Asia-wide fan meeting of BEAST.

카라의 구하라(20)와 비스트의 용준형(22)이 최 근 교제를 시작한 것으로 알려졌다.
비스트의 소속사인 큐브엔터테인먼트는 28일 “두 사람은 선후배 사이로 알고 지 냈으며 호감을 갖고 만난 지 한달 정도 된 것 같다”고 밝혔다.
이어 큐브엔터테인먼트는 “구하라가 (일부 멤버의 전속계약 분쟁으로) 힘든 시 기를 겪을 때 용준형이 위로해준 것으로 안다”며 “두 사람이 함께 식사하는 등 따로 만난 건 각자 바쁜 스케줄로 인해 세번 정도라고 들었다”고 덧붙였다.
카라의 소속사인 DSP미디어도 “서로에게 좋은 감정을 갖고 있는 것은 맞다”며 “하지만 지금은 서로를 알아가는 단계다. 이제 겨우 한달 정도 된 것 같다. 조금 더 지켜봐줬으면 좋겠다”고 전했다.
이 아이돌 커플의 행보는 두 그룹의 아시아권 인기를 고려할 때 국내 뿐 아니라 해외 팬들 사이에서도 큰 관심을 모을 것으로 보인다.
카라는 일본에서 오리콘차트 1위에 오를 정도로 탄탄한 인기를 얻었고, 비스트 도 일본, 태국 등 아시아에서 한국의 대표 아이돌 그룹으로 발돋움했다.
