A man allegedly threw a cup of scalding hot water into a barista’s face at Starbucks in San Diego on Thursday morning, Daily Mail reported.

Now arrested on suspicion of battery, Dennis Christopher Lee, 58, came into the café and asked for a cup of hot water, which Starbucks provides for free.

However, after the female barista served him, Lee started taking items from the condiments table.

Since the chain only allows customers who paid for drinks to take condiments, the worker stopped him.

At the moment, Lee responded with rage, throwing the cup of water in the woman’s face.

This left her with serious second-degree burns to her neck and chest. She was rushed to hospital to be treated.

According to reports, the witness of the incident, Shegun Iluyomade, confronted Lee and held him to wait until the police arrived.

Lee is being held on an $8,000 bond in jail.
