Where’s Waldo?

Thousands of people gathered at Merrion Square, Dublin, Sunday, dressed like the famous character from “Where’s Waldo” to break a Guinness World Record.

Participants wore white and red striped T-shirts and matching hats --Waldo’s signature costume -- for the event organized by the Street Performance World Championships.

The organizers came up with the weird and fun way to break the record and the campaign was successful as 3,657 people showed up for the event.

The character “Waldo” was created by British illustrator Martin Handford in his book “Where’s Waldo,” published in 1987. Readers are tasked to find Waldo dressed in a white and red striped T-shirt among a crowd of people dressed in different clothes in various settings.

3,657명의 사람들이 ‘월리를 찾아라’의 캐릭터 월리와 똑같이 옷을 입고 더블린 시내의 메리온 광장에 모두 모여 눈길을 끌고 있다. 일요일에 열린 이 이벤트는 길거리 공연 챔피언쉽이라는 기구가 기네스북 기록 경신을 위해 주최되었다.

주최측은 세계 기록 달성을 위해 이상하면서도 재미있는 이벤트를 개최했고 그 결과 많은 사람들을 참여시킬 수 있었다.

‘월리를 찾아라’의 캐릭터 ‘월리’는 1987년 영국 일러스트레이트 마틴 핸드포드에 의해 만들어졌으며 여러명의 사람들 속에서 월리를 찾아야 하는 책을 만들어 전 세계 사람들에게 인기를 끌었다.
