DEAUVILLE, France, (AFP) - France's first lady Carla Bruni, visibly pregnant, welcomed wives of G8 leaders to a working lunch on the sidelines of the group's summit on Thursday.
Wearing an unbelted white dress and a black coat, she posed briefly for pictures with four of the spouses who came to Deauville with the G8 leaders.
Neither 43-year-old Bruni nor her husband President Nicolas Sarkozy have commented on reports of her pregnancy, but she made no attempt to hide the bump and smiled broadly as her counterparts arrived,
The US and British first ladies, Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron, had not travelled to France, but Bruni met Canada's Laureen Harper and Russia's Svetlana Medvedev.
She also greeted the wife of EU president Herman van Rompuy, Geertrui Windels, and of European Commission president Manuel Barroso, Maria Barroso.

검은 재킷 안에 받쳐 입은 헐렁한 흰색 원피스도 봉긋 솟아오른 배를 가리기엔 부족했다.
임신설에 휩싸인 프랑스 영부인 카를라 브루니(43)는 26일 주요 8개국(G8) 정상회의가 열리는 북부 휴양지 도빌을 찾아 다른 영부인들과 단체사진 촬영에 응하면서 소문을 사실상 확인시켜줬다.
브루니가 동그스름한 배를 부드러운 손길로 받치는가하면 다른 영부인 4명과 별도촬영을 할 때 아래를 똑바로 내려다보며 배를 향해 뭔가 표현하는 모습은 임신설 확인에 몸이 단 기자들의 카메라에 고스란히 찍혔다.
니콜라 사르코지 대통령과 결혼 4년차에 접어든 브루니는 그동안 임신설 확인을 거부하면서도 이를 적극적으로 부인하지도 않았다.
2007년 한 파티에서 둘을 소개해준 프랑스 광고계 거물 자크 세귀엘라도 벨기에 신문 '르 수아' 인터뷰에서 "(둘 사이에 태어날) 아기가 아들이라는 것을 확실한 소식통에게서 들었다"고 전했다고 영국 일간 텔레그래프가 보도했다.
이제 프랑스 대통령실의 공식 발표만 남은 가운데 영국의 한 자선단체는 개발도 상국 유아사망률 감축캠페인 홍보차 '예비맘' 브루니에게 위생제품과 출산용품이 담긴 바구니를 선물했다고 로이터 통신이 보도했다.
한편 미국과 영국 영부인인 미셸 오바마와 사만다 캐머런은 이날 도빌을 찾지 않았다.
