Police have found a professor in Busan who confessed to killing his wife colluded with his lover in the crime.

Police have asked for Interpol’s cooperation in search for the woman who has fled the nation.

The 53-year-old professor, identified by his surname Kang, admitted that he strangled his 50-year-old wife on April 2.

Her body was found in a hiking sack last Saturday.

Police said Kang killed her in his car at 11 p.m. in a public parking lot. His lover, surnamed Choi, 50, helped him move her body to an islet on Nakdong River which runs across the city, and the pair used her car to transport the body.

The professor was detained Saturday and denied charges, but he made the confession after investigators produced evidence including his wife’s hairpin and traces of her blood detected inside his car, police said.

He initially said the murder was incidental.

It was later revealed that he and his lover had planned the crime.

Police found from his computer that he had searched the Internet to find out how to kill someone and hide the body.

On March 27 he bought the 1-meter-long backpack and invested in places, including the islet, in search of a place to dispose of the body, police said.

The couple were in the process of a divorce suit.
