While people move from one company to another for many different reasons, a recent study showed that the biggest factor is salary.

In a survey by Korea-based recruitment portal Saramin, about 41.5 percent of respondents who had changed jobs said salary was the main reason. About 2,057 people participated in the research, with 65.8 percent of respondents having experience of moving in their career.

Most people transfered after two to three years in their initial job (18 percent), but some even switched career before six months (11.9 percent).

The other factors included “unstable future of the company (34.6 percent),” “poor working condition (29.7 percent),” followed by “discord with boss or colleges (22.4 percent),” “lack of welfare (22.4 percent),” and “low sense of self-achievement (22 percent).”

When choosing a new job, people considered the following factors in order: salary, aptitude, corporate culture, working conditions, and welfare. Respondents said they usually prepared on average four to five months for a new job.

An official at Saramin said “Although transferring job may be a choice for a better life, frequent shifts are negative, and therefore should be done with cautious and thorough preparation.”
