French named Busan ad festival chief judge

Neil French, a big name in advertising, has been appointed as chief judge of the Busan International Advertising Festival, or AD STARS.

The British ad celebrity is former Creative Director at WPP Group and the recipient of more than 500 awards in numerous advertising festivals. French is credited with bringing the creative revolution to Asia when he was associated with The Ball Partnership in Singapore.

His work for Chivas Regal, Kaminomoto, and in particular on the XO Beer campaign for The Straits Times is used in case studies at advertising schools around the world.

The annual AD STARS in its fourth year will feature about 6,000 works from 45 countries in Haeundae Grand Hotel and around the Haeundae beach in Busan Aug. 25-27.

Organizers will set up AD STARS Village on the beach, where visitors can look at public brand pavilions to promote countries, cities and civic groups.
