Jaume Plensa, a Spanish installation artist renowned for his witty installation works, is looking for orean faces for his work “State Tower-Gwanghwamun,”which will be built in Cheongjin-dong, central Seoul, in July next year.
Plensa’s public installation works are found across the world, with some of his famous work including “As One” in Toronto International Airport and “Breathing” on the BBC building in London.
The best known work of the artist, however, is “Crown Fountain” at Millennium Park in Chicago, in the U.S. Installed in 2004, the 15.2-meter-tall interactive water-spouting LED tower is one of the several landmarks of the city. It displays digital videos of 960 Chicagoans’ faces in which each one puckers his or her mouth, squirts water, and smiles ― during the five minutes allocated to each face.

The LED work for “State Tower-Gwanghwamun” is expected to be in a similar vein as “Crown Fountain.” Volunteers will go through a video shoot in June and will have their faces up on the media facade by July next year.
