Berlusconi girl describes 'bunga bunga' parties: report

   ROME (AFP) - Dozens of naked women surround the Italian prime
minister vying with each other to arouse him -- Silvio Berlusconi's "bunga
bunga" parties as reportedly described to prosecutors by a key participant.

   "After dinner we went into a hall in the basement where the bunga bunga was
held," Karima El Mahroug, a pole dancer nicknamed "Ruby the Heart Stealer", was quoted as saying to investigators in leaks published by La Repubblica daily.

   "All the girls were naked during the bung bunga and I had the feeling that
they were competing with each other to make Berlusconi notice them by
performing more and more daring sexual acts," she was quoted as saying.

   Mahroug is the woman prosecutors say Berlusconi paid to have sex with at
his luxury villa outside Milan when she was just 17 -- a crime in Italy --
though both parties deny it.

   Berlusconi is also accused of abusing his power by getting her released
from police custody in a later incident when she had been arrested for theft.

   Prosecutors say he was ensuring his sex offences remained secret, while his lawyers say he thought she was former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's niece.

   Berlusconi faces trial on both charges -- which he vehemently denies --
starting on April 6.

   In one of her quoted statements, the voluptuous Moroccan-born Mahroug
described her first meeting with Berlusconi at his residence in February 2010.

   "That evening Berlusconi told me that the bunga bunga was a harem that he
copied from his friend (Libyan leader Moamer) Kadhafi in which girls strip off
and have to give him 'physical pleasures'," she reportedly said.

   "The prime minister took me to his office and led me to understand that my
life would change completely if I took part in the bunga bunga," she added.

   She said she refused to take part the first time but joined Berlusconi the
second time she visited in March, although she kept her clothes on.

   "I didn't strip off and I didn't perform sex acts," she said.

   "I was the only girl with my clothes on and just so as to have something to
do I brought the prime minister Sanbitters every now and then," she said,
referring to a popular non-alcoholic Italian fizzy drink.

   There was no mention in the report of what Berlusconi was wearing.

   There are no criminal charges related to the "bunga bunga" parties, which
have however become the butt of numerous jokes in Italy in recent months.

   Berlusconi has admitted he is "a sinner, just like everyone" but has
accused moralistic magistrates and "puritan" opponents of campaigning against him.

실비오 베를루스코니 이탈리아 총리의 유명한 섹스파티인 이른바 `붕가 붕가(bunga bunga) 파티'에 여러 차례 참석한 모로코 출신 10대 나이트클럽 댄서 카리마 엘 마루그(일명 루비)가 검찰에 진술했다는 현장의 모습이다.

AFP는 18일 이탈리아 유력 일간지 라 레푸블리카에 보도된 루비의 검찰 진술을 인용, 이같이 보도했다.

루비는 "저녁식사가 끝난 뒤 우리는 지하실에 있는 한 방으로 갔는데, 거기서 붕가 붕가 파티가 열렸다"며 "모든 여자들이 파티 내내 나체로 있었는데, 그 여성들은 베를루스코니의 주목을 끌기 위해 점점 더 과감한 성적인 행위를 하면서 서로 경쟁하는 것 같았다"고 진술했다.

루비는 17세로 미성년자이던 지난해 2월부터 5월 사이 밀라노 외곽의 고급 빌라에서 베를루스코니 총리로부터 대가를 지불하고 성관계를 맺었다는 의혹의 중심 인물.

베를루스코니는 미성년 성매매 뿐만 아니라 루비가 절도 혐의로 체포됐을 때 경찰에 석방 압력을 행사한 혐의도 받고 있다.

내달 6일 재판을 앞두고 있는 베를루스코니 총리는 두 혐의를 모두 전면 부인하고 있다.

루비는 2010년 2월 베를루스코니의 저택에서 그를 처음 만났을 때를 묘사한 진술에서 "그날 저녁 베를루스코니는 나에게 붕가 붕가 파티는 자기 친구인 (리비아 지도자) 카다피의 할렘에서 따온 것인데, 할렘에서는 여자들이 벌거벗은 채 남성에게 `육체적 즐거움'을 줘야 한다고 했다"고 밝혔다.

루비는 또 "총리는 나를 자기 집무실로 데려가서는 내가 붕가 붕가 파티에 참석하면 내 인생이 완전히 달라질 것이라고 설득했다"고 덧붙였다.

그녀는 자신이 첫 제안을 거절했지만, 작년 3월 두 번째로 베를루스코니를 만났을 때는 비록 옷을 입은 상태였지만 파티에 합류했다고 진술했다.

그녀는 "나는 벌거벗지 않았고, 성적인 행동도 하지 않았다"며 "나는 그 파티에서 유일하게 옷을 입고 있었던 여자이며, 총리를 위해 해준 것은 음료수를 갖다준 것 뿐"이라고 주장했다.

라 레푸블리카의 보도에서는 베를루스코니가 옷을 입고 있었는지에 대해서는 거론되지 않았다.

검찰은 이탈리아에서 매우 유명한 단어가 돼버린 붕가 붕가 파티 자체에 대해서는 기소하지 않았고, 베를루스코니는 최근 "다른 이들처럼 나도 죄인"이라며 섹스파티 자체를 부인하지는 않았다.
