LG Group said Monday that it would provide bilingual education to 400 children from multicultural backgrounds.

In a joint effort with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, the country’s fourth-largest conglomerate said that it would offer online bilingual education programs to 300 Chinese and 100 Vietnamese elementary school students this year.

The group supported about 70 children from multicultural backgrounds last year, the first year of the program.

This year’s scaled-up program will provide language training as well as counseling through the online classes.

From March to December, participants will learn Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean once every week from a college student attending HUFS.

Outstanding students will have an opportunity to visit their parents or their native country, said LG officials.

Those interested in the program can download the application form from the group’s website (www.lg.co.kr) and mail it to the university’s Center for Multicultural Education by Feb. 25.
