Hiscot Co., a subsidiary of Korea’s largest liquor maker Hite-Jinro Group, offers a range of gift sets for the Feb. 3 Lunar New Year’s day, the firm said Monday.

“This year’s New Year gift sets were prepared for consumers who look for practical gifts. A variety of quality gift sets will be offered at affordable prices for consumers to choose from,” Hiscot executive director Jang Byeong-seon said.

The 33 types of gift sets include five which consist of the firm’s well-known whiskey products, Kingdom and Cutty Sark.

Each whiskey brand is available in 12 years, 17 years and 21 years. The gift sets come with accessories such as whiskey miniatures, tin glasses and golf balls.

Kingdom whiskeys have won silver prizes at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2008 for the first time as a local whiskey brand. Cutty Sark has a rich, concentrated flavor, the liquor producer said.

Other whiskey gift sets include Original Cutty Sark, the world’s first-ever light whiskey, Cutty Black, Cutty Sark Malt and Cutty Sark 25 years.

In addition to conventional whiskey sets, Hiscot presents some unique combinations of whiskey and wine as well, it said.

Two sets include a bottle of Petit Bistro Merlot wine, popular for its label which uses the imagery of Van Gogh’s “Caf la Nuit,” and either a bottle of Kingdom 12 years or 17 years.

The liquor maker said it also rolls out gift sets for wine lovers as well. They are mostly comprised of European wine labels Medoc, Terroir, Moscato d’Asti and Danzante.

Other selections include diverse labels from the United States, Australia, Chile and Spain, according to the firm.

Hiscot whiskey and wine gift sets are available at department stores and discount stores nationwide. For inquiries, call (02) 3443-3411.
