Red Velvet’s new EP landed atop the iTunes top albums chart in 44 regions. EP “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday” came out on Monday and swept up charts at home as well. All five songs from the EP hogged top spots on some of the domestic music charts. Chuu of Loona became the focus of a battle over the truth, as her agency Blockberry Creative announced Friday that she had been fired for abusing staff. Chuu has stayed mum as of late Monday, but her manager told media they are assessing the situation and will release an official statement soon. The music video for Blackpink’s “Kill This Love” surpassed 1.7 billion views on YouTube, label YG Entertainment said Friday. It is the group’s second video to reach the milestone on the platform, following that of its mega hit “Ddu-du Ddu-du,” and the quartet became the first K-pop artist to have two to do so. “Kill This Love” is the titular track from its EP that came out in April 2019. [Today’s K-pop] NCT Dream adds Osaka to Japan tour
NCT Dream announced that it will add two concerts to its ongoing Japan tour. At the end of its first show in Nagoya on Wednesday, the bandmates told the audience that it will take the stage at Kyocera Dome in Osaka on Feb. 17-19. RM of BTS will invite about 200 fans to shoot a video on Dec. 5, Big Hit Music said Wednesday. The first solo EP from BTS’ Jin sold more than 1 million units, a first for a single from a solo K-pop musician. “The Astronaut” was rolled out in October and sold over 770,000 copies in its first week, a record for a solo single. Two members of Treasure decided to quit and the band will reorganize into a 10-piece act, YG Entertainment announced Tuesday.
