The Korea Herald’s intern reporters visited Busan -- the host city of the 2019 ASEAN-ROK summit -- as it was getting boisterous and busy for the international event.

Busan has, among other things, stunning mountains and narrow back alleys. It has lustrous coastlines with seagulls and sand. The city is also famous for scorching hot springs and heavenly seafood. Busan is, without doubt, a rollicking port metropolis offering many wonderful things to visitors.

From casual cart bars to voguish designer cafes filled with young people and foreign tourists, especially at night, the city certainly has something for all tastes.

The smell of freshly displayed raw fish on offer is also another unique feature of Busan, which will definitely lure you with a glass of Korea’s signature alcoholic beverage, soju.

The intern reporters headed to the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Food Street event to taste the delicious local cuisine presented by the 10 ASEAN member states.

The culinary festival is designed to offer visitors an opportunity to experience diverse authentic food and culture from ASEAN countries. Visitors can blend into this melting pot of cultures and ethnicities.

Another destination was the city’s well-known Gamcheon Culture Village. The colorful and attractive village started out as a tiny shantytown, a temporary asylum for displaced people during the Korean War.

Today, the perky little neighborhood is crowded with tourists who want to experience Korea’s traditional culture as well as the area’s beautiful scenery.
