Public broadcaster MBC is set to normalize most operations Wednesday when unionized workers end their strike following the dismissal of its embattled president.

For more than two months, thousands of union members staged a walkout, demanding the removal of President Kim Jang-kyom, who is accused of unfair interference in news coverage.

On Monday, the Foundation for Broadcast Culture (FBC), which holds a 70-percent stake in MBC, passed a motion on his dismissal.

The decision was approved in a shareholders' meeting later that day.

From this week, the network will air most entertainment shows, such as "Radio Star" and "I Live Alone" on schedule. Popular variety show "Infinite Challenge" and music show "Show! Music Core"

will resume next weekend. During the strike, the network played reruns and special episodes.

A company official told Yonhap News Agency that the shows will use footage already filmed before the protest.

Most radio programs will also run normally.

But it will take more time to normalize news and current affairs programs, the union said, as unionists in related departments will continue work stoppage until a new president is appointed. (Yonhap)
