Mercedes-Benz CSR Committee held this week a variety of CSR activities including the “FC Kids Benz” football class at Yeonpyeong Elementary School located in the Yeonpyeong Island, the front line of the West Sea in celebration of the Chuseok holidays, the company said Thursday.

For two days from Tuesday, some 20 employees of the Daimler affiliates in Korea and all 66 students of Yeonpyeong elementary school participated in a football class. During the four-hour class, the students were given lessons on dribbling, ball control and team play, among others.

FC Kids Benz football class is part of the CSR programs carried out by Mercedes-Benz Korea since 2016 to help provide opportunities for diverse experiences and education for children and youth in culturally neglected regions.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz CSR Committee visited the library of Yeonpyeong Community Center to donate some 1,100 children books and visited the Yeonpyeong Marine Forces to deliver welfare goods for the soldiers.

“I am very happy to be able to stay in Yeonpyeong Island for two days for Korea’s biggest holiday Chuseok and to present children in sports cultural alienation with special memories,” Psillakis said. “We will continue to make efforts to fund local communities in the blind spot of cultural welfare to enable all the residents there including children and youth to enjoy cultural benefits in their daily lives.”

Mercedes-Benz Korea has been active in promoting and expanding its social responsibility projects.

In 2014, Mercedes-Benz Korea officially launched a CSR program Mercedes-Benz Promise with Daimler’s affiliates and 11 official dealers. The program consists of three programs including: the Mercedes-Benz MobileKids, the training program on children’s traffic safety; Mercedes-Benz Mobile Academy, the company’s cooperative program on auto training with universities; Mercedes-Benz All Together, the company’s program on volunteer activities that involve the participation of its executives and employees.

Mercedes-Benz Korea’s Social Contribution Fund is managed and operated by Kids & Future Foundation, a social welfare corporation.

Mercedes-Benz Korea, founded in 2003 as a local subsidiary of Daimler AG, currently operates 46 showrooms and 53 service centers across the country.
