Ssangyong Motor Co., the local unit of Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., is recalling some 5,200 vehicles sold here for issues related to the car's front bumper shock absorbers, the transportation ministry said Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the shock absorber may break due to a manufacturing defect, upsetting the balance of the car should part of the absorber also become detached.

The recall affects 5,242 Korando Turismo SUVs produced between March 25 and Nov. 14, 2014.

Free repair services are available at any Ssangyong Motor service center in the country.

Meanwhile, the ministry said it was also recalling the Mitsubishi Pajero SUVs sold here as part of the Takata airbag recall that has affected millions of cars globally.

The recall involves defective inflators in Takata airbags that may deploy improperly in case of a crash, shooting metal fragments into the driver and other vehicle occupants.

The recall affects 31 Pajero cars produced between Nov. 28, 2008 and July 18, 2012 and sold here, the ministry said in a press release. (Yonhap)
