Students criticized Park for taking “the power committed to her by the people in exercise of their sovereignty and ceded it to illegitimate individuals, privatizing that which belongs to the public,” as well as "rejecting the most fundamental principles of constitution."

They also urged the National Assembly to abandon partisan politics and commit to a total effort towards resolving the current crisis.

Since October, student bodies at major universities across the country released statements slamming the president and her confidente Choi Soon-sil.

While the embattled president has remained silent since her second apology last week, calls continued to grow for Park to take responsibility for the state crisis, with some even demanding her to step down.
