LOT Polish Airlines begins service to Incheon

By Kim Bo-gyung

LOT Polish Airlines officially began operating at Incheon International Airport earlier this week, offering the first-ever nonstop flights between Poland and Korea, the airliner said Wednesday.
The first flight by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner flew from Warsaw, Poland to Incheon Airport on Tuesday morning. The Polish airlines plans to operate three inbound flights from Poland weekly.
“Travelling from South Korea to Europe has never been that easy and comfortable,” said Rafał Milczarski, CEO of LOT.
“Our network of connections now includes almost 60 European destinations,” he added.
LOT is the first airlines from Central and Eastern Europe to connect Korea directly with European cities.
The launch is expected to reduce the time taken for travelers to fly to Poland as well as shorten layovers from Poland to other destinations in Europe such as Stockholm and Copenhagen.
On Tuesday, LOT also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Tourism Organization to develop travel packages in the two countries. (lisakim425@heraldcorp.com)
