[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor was praised on Sept. 23 for its campaign to raise funds for childhood cancer at the annual Childhood Cancer Summit in the United States.

The Child Cancer Caucus, involving over 100 members of the House of Representatives, held the annual Childhood Cancer Summit on the day in an effort to raise awareness of pediatric cancer and finance the development of medicine and treatment.

“Hyundai, they’ve raised over US$100 million for the cause. This is awesome,” Rep. Michael McCaul, co-chair of the caucus, said during the event. “It‘s a fact that more children die of cancer every year than adults died in the attacks on 9/11. It’s the No. 1 killer of our kids.”

The South Korean automaker runs the “Hope on Wheels” fund-raising program, in which US$14 is raised every time a new Hyundai vehicle is sold. Since the program was launched in 1998, Hyundai has raised and donated a total of about $115 million, including $15 million this year alone.
