The most important source of competitiveness of GS Caltex is human resources, Huh Jin-soo, CEO of the South Korean oil refiner, emphasized on many occasions.

In an effort to attract talent with work ability rather than good ‘specifications’, the energy firm eliminated minimum grade and foreign language requirements in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

In addition, GS Caltex has launched various training and welfare programs in order to provide a satisfactory working environment and to improve productivity.

The ‘two-week refresh’ program, for instance, allows employees to take a long vacation during which they can spend more time with their family.

The company also provides a consultation program called Employee Assistance Program from which its employees can have a professional psychological counselling session.

For employees with children, and female workers in particular, the company runs a kindergarten near its headquarters to help working parents.
