[THE INVESTOR] POSCO Daewoo is set to supply 30 megawatts of solar modules to U.S. solar energy generators including Osgood Solar, the company said Sunday.

The trading arm of POSCO Group said it had signed supply deals worth 20 billion won ($17 million) with the U.S. firms at the latest solar energy exhibition Inter Solar North America in San Francisco.

Through the deals, the local company’s solar modules will be installed at general houses and urban buildings in the U.S.

Amid growing demands on eco-friendly energy including solar power globally, POSCO Daewoo has recently focused its capacity into creating value chains of the solar energy segments such as polysilicon, cells and modules. It has been running a renewable energy division since 2010.

“We were able to reach the deals by closely working with local companies in the face of competition from global solar companies,” the company’s official said.

Inter Solar North America is an annual solar energy exhibition held in North America, which has drawn around 550 solar companies and 18,000 related employees this year.
