President Park Geun-hye on Monday stressed Korea's efforts to share its experience in creating social welfare services with developing nations, pointing out that such services have contributed to enhancing the quality of people's lives.

In her video message to an international forum on social welfare, the president also introduced Seoul's ongoing program to provide services that are tailored to the specific needs of individuals at different life stages such as those for the elderly and the underprivileged.

"South Korea has been strengthening efforts to help enhance the quality of life for humankind by sharing its experience in developing its economy and social welfare programs with developing nations across the world," she said in the message to the Joint World Conference on Social Work, Education and Social Development 2016.

The president also expressed hopes that the conference will serve as a opportunity to enhance the international community's efforts to promote human dignity.

Under the main theme of "Promoting the dignity and worth of people," the forum began its four-day run on Monday. The forum brought together some 3,000 participants from around the world including social service workers and experts.

The gathering was hosted by the International Association of Schools of Social Work, International Council on Social Welfare and the International Federation of Social Workers. (Yonhap)
