The 2016 World Eco-Friendly Design Exhibition


South Jeolla Province will host the 2016 World Eco-Friendly Design Exhibition at Naju Agricultural Research Center on May 5-29. The exhibition is expected to add design value to the province’s agro-fisheries farmland image. The exhibition, defining vague concept of “Eco-Friendly Design” as “All actions planned and done thinking of humans and nature,” will present seven exhibitions related to eco-friendly design including “Natural Dyeing Exhibition,” “Sky Garden,” and “Kids and Industry,” academic conferences, and an array of events and experience centers.

Meanwhile, the province will host an international symposium to provide communities with direction and inspiration for eco-friendly designs at Naju Innovation City, May 6.

Mexico Carnivals: Cultural Syncretism to Enjoy

Mexico’s popular Carnival festival for this year will take place all over the country in February. They will take place in six regions -- Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Mazatlan, Campeche, Morelos, and Merida. These popular festivals, which date back to distant times and places, have rooted from the people living in Latin America known for their warm and festive nature. The festivals will feature a vast array of parades and traditional dance performance as well as special events providing people with cultural experiences. During the festivals, town and city streets become the stage for a party that everyone can join.

Carnivals will be held between February and March, just before Lent, a period for meditation and reflection.

The Skrei (Atlantic cod) Festival in Norway

The Norway Tourism Administration will hold the Atlantic Cod Festival March 3. The North Atlantic cod, which travels from the Barents sea to the coast of Norway, has been important for people on the islands of Vikna since it’s a great source of food and income. The tourism administration is celebrating the arrival of the cod with a culinary and cultural festival.

The festival will offer cultural events and opportunities to experience maritime environment as well as taste the cod cooked the traditional way. It will also offer trips to a fishing station far out at sea, where the local fishermen deliver their catches to local buyers and to a traditional fair where you can buy quality local crafts.

Lotte World Aquarium designated to preserve marine lives

Lotte World Aquarium has been appointed as “Preservation institution other than habitat” and “Rescue and remedy institution specialized in marine animals” by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, according to Lotte World.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries designates preservation institution to preserve marine lives which original habitats cannot accommodate, and rescue and remedy institution to help injured and stranded marine animals recover and return to the nature by providing emergency measures.

Lotte World Aquarium is taking part in the conservation of 19 of the 52 marine species that are threatened or endangered. The aquarium will strengthen its rescue and remedy infrastructure with emergency rescue vehicles and therapists.

Mercedes-Benz museum to celebrate 10th anniversary

Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart will be 10 years old on May 19 and an anniversary event will take place at the museum on June 4-5. Over 7 million visitors from more than 160 countries have visited the museum since its opening, which confirms its popularity as a major tourist attraction in Stuttgart.
