The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Friday that it has opened a website that provides information on medical tourism programs in the city in four languages.

The Medical Tour Seoul web site (http://medicaltourseoul.com) aims to help foreigners coming to the city for medical tours in English, Chinese, Japanese and Russian, according to the city government.

The municipal government said it also plans to provide the service in Arabic starting from the first half of next year.

The website provides detailed information on more than 50 hospitals chosen by the city in six categories -- beauty, wellness, oriental medicine, medical checkups, intense treatments and minor treatments.

The city government has pushed ahead with region-specific medical tourism programs reserved for foreigners as part of efforts to meet growing demand and to emerge as a new hub of global medical tourism.

Some 155,000 foreigners visited Seoul last year for medical purposes, mostly from China, the U.S., Russia, and Japan. (Yonhap)
