The Korea Testing Laboratory and Vietnam’s Quality Assurance and Testing Center 3 signed an agreement on electromagnetic compatibility and recognizing the results of electric safety tests at Singapore’s Genting Hotel Jurong on Nov. 19, KTL officials said.

KTL president Lee Won-bok signed the agreement with Vietnam’s QUATESET3 during the 16th annual Asia Network Forum to make it easier for Korean companies to enter the growing Vietnamese market.

According to the agreement, Korean companies’ KTL test reports will be recognized in Vietnam, allowing them to receive a “CR” mark on their products to denote compliance with standards, which is required for all foreign products entering the market.

The agreement will allow KTL engineers to fulfill required test evaluations for Vietnam in Korea, easing the process of having to take and qualify for certification exams in Vietnam and saving the cost of sending test products overseas for qualification.

“KTL signed an MoU with QUATEST 3 on test evaluations in 2013 in preparation for an expanding Vietnamese market, and now through constant mutual trust, signed an agreement whereby KTL test reports can be recognized in Vietnam,” said Lee.

He added that he would do his best to support a one-stop certification in Vietnam in order for Korean companies to gain competitiveness in exporting to the nation.

The Asia Network Forum, founded in 2000, is attended by six certification organizations across Asia and discusses testing and certification issues. KTL is the only Korean representative organization to attend the forum.
