Lexus, Toyota’s premium vehicle brand, ran a collaboration project with the Korean music scene to promote sales of its newly launched IS200t, a compact sports sedan, targeting local car lovers in their 20s and 30s.

The company held a hip-hop concert-type launching event in Seoul last Wednesday, inviting around 300 potential customers and media officials to celebrate and showcase the new vehicle equipped with a new turbocharged engine and an enhanced automatic transmission system for a more dynamic driving experience.

Topped with a new 2.0-liter gasoline-powered turbo engine — made with the carmaker’s fuel injection technology enabling fuel economy and instantaneous torque — the new Lexus IS200t sports sedan delivers a maximum of 245 horsepower at 5,800 rpm.

The vehicle is also equipped with an eight-speed sports direct shift automatic transmission, first developed for the RC F, which enables rapid acceleration up to a top speed of 230 kilometers per hour.

Featuring an exclusive combination of water-cooled four-cylinder heads, integrated exhaust manifold and a twin scroll turbocharger, the new 2.0-liter turbo engine delivers fast throttle response, high torque and minimal turbo lag.

Equipped with Toyota’s VDIM -- the firm’s exclusive vehicle handling and software control system -- and eight air bags, the new Lexus IS200t offers an upgraded driving experience, according to the company.

“The new turbo model was designed to present not only delicate handling but also enhanced design and safety features, offering our customers an exciting and new driving experience,” said Toyota Motor Korea CEO Yoshida Akihisa.

The new Lexus IS200t comes in four trims -- “Premium,” “Supreme,” “Executive” and “F Sport” -- priced respectively at 44.4 million won ($38,100), 49.5 million won, 56.7 million won and 54.6 million won.

“I’m considering buying the new IS200t, which seems to offer high specs and performance at a good price,” said a 30-year-old male office worker who came to the launching ceremony Wednesday to check out the new vehicle.

Lexus is giving out hotel and stadium usage vouchers for use at Inje Speedium, a motor racing circuit in Gangwon Province, for those who purchase a new IS200t within this year as part of its promotion.
