Koreans spend over two hours on average on smartphone applications per day, data showed Wednesday.

According to data analysis institution Cheil DnA Center, a study across 4,442 smartphone users in the country for a month showed that on average, users spent two hours and 23 minutes using smartphone apps each day.

Teenagers had the highest amount of average usage with two hours and 50 minutes, while those in their 50s only spent around one hour and 28 minutes on apps per day.

In terms of app types, users spent an average of 52 minutes on entertainment apps such as games, music, videos and webtoons (36.7 percent), and 50 minutes on messenger and social media apps (35.6 percent).

Users spent an average of 27 minutes (19.4 percent) on news apps, with older demographics spending a longer time using them.
