South Korean President Park Geun-hye will meet with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev here next week to discuss cooperation in economic sectors, national security and other issues of mutual concern, Cheong Wa Dae said Wednesday.

The summit will take place on May 14 during the Bulgarian president's three-day visit to South Korea to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the countries, according to the presidential office.

Park and Plevneliev are expected to discuss ways to bolster cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure building and national security.

The leaders may also delve into bilateral youth and cultural exchanges as well as the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, Europe and on the globe.

"President Plevneliev's visit to South Korea, marking the first visit by a Bulgarian president in six years, will be an opportunity to assess the progress in the countries' relations of 25 years and to further cement the bilateral ties," a Cheong Wa Dae official said. "President Plevneliev's visit will also help develop the partnership between South Korea and the European Union." (Yonhap)
