Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top automaker, said Tuesday that it has sold more than 10,000 units of the all-new Tucson SUV in less than three weeks since its launch.

Since March 4 when it started to sell the Tucson, its cumulative unit sales came to 10,300 as of Friday last week, according to the automaker.

It is the third generation of the Tucson SUV, one of Hyundai Motor's most popular models, and came out six years after the previous generation hit the market. Hyundai Motor aims to sell 42,000 units of the Tucson this year.

The latest model is 10 millimeters lower than the second generation in its height with its length and wheelbase 65 mm and 30 mm longer than the previous one, a change that broadens inner space and improves stability.

The SUV comes with the R2.0-liter diesel engine that meets the Euro 6 emissions standards along with the downsized U2 1.7 diesel.

The price tag for the latest Tucson ranges from 23.4 million won ($21,178) to 29.2 million won depending on its trim. (Yonhap)
