A group of representatives from foreign business groups in South Korea will visit the Kaesong Industrial Complex this week to look around facilities there, the unification ministry said Wednesday.

They are Christoph Heider, secretary-general of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and 19 others from five similar foreign organizations tasked with promoting trade and business with South Korea.

During the one-day trip to the complex in the North's border town Thursday, they plan to check business conditions there, according to the ministry's spokesman Lim Byeong-cheol.

The South's government has been pushing to draw foreign investors to the Kaesong zone and help firms operating there expand their sales routes.

No foreign firm is operating in the zone, where 124 South Korean small and mid-sized companies hire around 54,000 North Korean workers. (Yonhap)
