LG Household & Health Care posted 1.2 trillion won ($1.07 billion) in sales and 111 billion won in operating profit for the fourth quarter of 2014, the company said Tuesday.

The figures are up 14.5 percent on-year in sales and a 30.9 percent hike in operating profit, the company said.

It is company’s first time to see quarterly operating profit exceeding 100 billion won, capping its second consecutive year with sales above 1 trillion won. The firm’s yearly record came at 4.6 trillion won in sales and 511 billion won in operating profit for 2014.

The main driver of the company’s growth is the cosmetics industry growing increasingly popular among foreigners, especially the Chinese population.

Whoo, a cosmetics brand using traditional Korean ingredients, had the highest sales among all beauty products in local duty-free stores between September and December last year and marked a 100 percent growth rate. Other brands including O’hui, SU:M and Belief have also shown impressive sales records at major retail channels including duty-free stores, door-to-door sales and department stores, the company said.

“We also believe that streamlining our cosmetics business in China has contributed to the good sales,” a company official said.
