Prosecutors on Friday raided the headquarters of LG Electronics in Yeouido, Seoul, and confiscated materials that are believed to prove that one of its top executives intentionally damaged Samsung Electronics products at a Berlin mall.

Officers at the Seoul Central Prosecutors’ Office have secured documents showing the whereabouts of Cho Sung-jin, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance division, while he was visiting the Saturn Berlin Europa Center in September. They also confiscated computer hard disks and reports at the LG Electronics plant in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.

According to the investigation, Cho was spotted breaking the doors of four Samsung Crystal Blue washing machines at the home appliance store, ahead of the International Funkausstellung trade show in the German capital city. LG and Samsung were both slated to present their latest products.

LG denied that Cho was involved in the alleged vandalism.

However, based on the CCTV footage showing Cho breaking the washing machine, the prosecutors have decided to summon him no later than the end of next week. Whether to indict him will be decided in January.
